Melancholy Monday – Running Up That Hill

October 6, 2008 at 11:26 am (Monday, Music) (, , , )

Another weekend gone.  Another work week to face.  That can only mean it is Monday again.  Unfortunately I am sick today which means I am feeling a bit more melancholy than usual.  So, I’m not even going to write much.  I’m just going to give my song for the day and go lay down again.

I’ve chosen the Placebo remake of the Kate Bush song Running Up That Hill.

Melancholy Monday – Everybody Hurts

September 29, 2008 at 12:15 am (Monday, Music) (, , )

BOO!!!!!  The weekend is gone again which means its Monday which means its time to go back to work which means having to deal with another week of yuckie stuff.  UGH!!!

To fit my mood of sheer and utter depression, I have selected the song Everybody Hurts by REM.

Now that I’ve totally depressed myself, I’m going to go fix me a stiff cup of coffee and cry.

Melancholy Monday – Crying

September 22, 2008 at 12:10 am (Monday, Music) (, , )

Another weekend come and gone. This weekend seems to have flown a lot faster than most. I’m sure that it is mostly do to having spent the majority of Sunday in vegetative state from the activities of the prior evening.

As we say good-bye to the weekend, I can only hope the road ahead this week will be better than the road I left behind last week. Saying good-bye to the weekend is always a painful experience but for whatever reason I am especially depressed this week. And so with much melancholliness I have chosen the tear jerking great Crying by Roy Orbison.

Melancholy Monday – Rewind

September 15, 2008 at 12:10 am (Monday, Music) (, , )

G-Man over at The Sometimes Sophomoric Hyjinks of the G-Man started off our Melancholy Mondays several weeks ago with the Palo Nutina song Autumn Leaves.  This week I decided to choose Palo’s song Rewind for my Melancholy Monday selection.
Hubby and I had the pleasure of accompanying G-Man’s wonderful wife Sue Boo to a Palo concert at the Wildhorse last year.  I had never heard of the Scottish born singer, but immediately fell in love with his soulful voice and heart wenching lyrics.
I have chosen his song Rewind because 1) There are several moments in my life I wish I could rewind to.  2) I spend pretty much every Sunday evening dreading have to go to work on Monday and wishing I could rewind the weekend back to Friday night.  And 3) It’s just a really good song.

Another Gloomy, Poopie, Melancholy Monday

August 25, 2008 at 5:00 am (Monday, Music) (, , , , )

The steady eh eh eh eh pierces the stillness of the early morning.  A low groan escapes the throat as the mind slowly registers the buzzing noise.  Eyes open followed by a groggy yawn then close again as every muscle fights any movement.  I laggardly wipe the sleep from my eyes and force myself to sit up.  The eh eh eh has become an unbearable annoyance, and I stagger across the room to the alarm clock and quickly smack the snooze button stifling the machine’s taunts.

The fog begins to lift inside my brain and my eyes become thin slits peering at the darkened room around me.  It is then that I realize with dispiritedness and an overwelming gloom that it is yet another Monday.  The beginning of another week of monotonous bull poopie.  Monday is the gloomiest day of all the days in the week.
